John Nyday and his wife are Methodist Missionaries in Mozambique. We have supported John in his agricultural mission for about 5 years. John teaches villagers to grow their own food and support the land. John and his wife visited our congregation several years ago…we were impressed with their dedication to serve.
DJ Ouellett and his family live in Watertown. DJ is a former student of member Jim Louey. Last year Jim reached out to our congregation for help in supporting DJ and his family both financially and emotionally in his long recovery from a very bad accident. DJ is making progress, but still needs our support and prayers.

*Call to Worship (Together in Unison)
As we gather here today, we join millions around the world who are believing with their whole being that Jesus is, indeed, the Savior, and who are anticipating, like us, the celebration of his birth. Help us, as we gather here, to realize our unity with those who live at a great distance from us; and help us, through our worship, to experience the presence of Jesus Christ.
*Opening Hymn
Hymn #219 “What Child is This”
Verse 1
What Child is this who laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping
This this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste haste to bring Him laud
The Babe the Son of Mary
Verse 2
Why lies He in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding
Good Christian fear for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading
This this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste haste to bring Him laud
The Babe the Son of Mary
Verse 3
So bring Him incense gold and myrrh
Come peasant king to own Him
The King of kings salvation brings
Let loving hearts enthrone Him
This this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste haste to bring Him laud
The Babe the Son of Mary

You May Be Seated
Prayer of Confession (Together In Unison)
During this season of Advent we confess that in our Christmas preparations there is more of culture than of Christ. We allow the noise and confusion of the season to obscure the peace we have with you. We allow the raucous jingles of commerce to distract us from the profound mystery of
Bethlehem. We allow material and financial considerations to overpower spiritual realities. Forgive us, we pray, and draw us back to the quiet presence of the living Christ.
A time of silent individual confessional prayer.
Words of Assurance
We hope in the Lord, for with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with God there is full
redemption. God will redeem us from all our sins.

*Benediction
Be assured of this—that nothing in all creation will be able to separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
*Postlude
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy new year
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy new year
Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas
And a happy new year
