Who we are…
In 1729, two young men in England, reading the Bible, saw they could not be saved without holiness: followed after it, and invited others to do so. God then thrust them out to raise a holy people. These are the words of John and Charles Wesley, founders of Methodism.
Methodism arrived in Naugatuck in 1797, where it has flourished for 214 years. Located at 208 Meadow Street, our church provides a place to practice and grow your faith, in a safe and loving environment. All who believe in Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior are welcome, and received with the love and support of fellow Christians.
Our faithful members have supported missions locally and throughout the world. We believe with God all things are possible, and our prayers have been answered with many wonderful events including both physical and spiritual healing. Our Sunday School and adult studies provide a welcoming atmosphere to all.
- where people welcome and accept you as you are?
- where you can experience a sense of purpose and belonging?
- with messages and Bible teachings that are relevant to everyday life and uplifting?
- with no confusing religious jargon?
We want to be that church for you!
If you’re searching for new meaning in life, our hearts, our minds and our doors are always open.
Pastor – Rev. David W. Mantz
CALLING TO MINISTRY: After 15 years in business, with eight while active as a church elder, deacon, youth & young adult leader, and Chair of World Missions, I was called by God to a radical change, which meant dropping everything, attending seminary and in February of 1996, beginning life anew as a pastor.
MINISTRY: Before becoming a Pastor, I have generally always worked in the areas of world missions, teaching, young adults, and male youth. However, in all areas, I have served in ways that require the coordination of teams of volunteers. My spiritual gifts include leadership, administration, organization, planning, encouragement, and helping others discover their gifts.
PERSONAL LIFE: I have been married to Rev Sandra B Mantz, the Pastor of UMC Waterbury for the past 25 years. We have three children, 23, 22, and 21. I am an Eagle Scout and have remained active in the Scouting program most of my adult life. I love the outdoors, with downhill skiing being my favorite hobby. Pastor Sandy and I love seafood (particularly lobster rolls) Italian food, ice cream, Sunday afternoon date drives and time with our three children (that is, when we can nail them down!)
